First Day of School!

Seems late, doesn't it?  Not used to starting in September.

Things went well.  The students I met today are lovely - bright, friendly, excited to be here and willing to do the crazy things I ask of them.  There were many smiles and lots of beautiful singing in the tiny music room today.

Tomorrow I see the Grades 5 and 6 - first time I've taught them in a long time as a music class and not a choir.  In fact, I haven't taught general music to those grades since 2003.  Same thing with the 7th and 8th graders on Wednesday.  Hmmm.

  2. I am so glad you wrote this post! I was actually wondering how your first day of school went. I agree with Heather - I am positive you will be simply amazing and all your students will love you!

  3. Agreeing with Bobi that you are amazing. Remember when we as a family were asked to sing the Army of Helaman for Jared's farewell and we were all just kinda singing and not doing so well. You stepped in and started telling us how to sing it, what to sing etc., and within about 10 minutes had us whipped into a reasonably decent singing group. That is one amazing skill to be able to take a group and within minutes, make it sound decent. And it did. Of course the Angels that came to sing with us helped a whole lot!

Thanks for sharing this info. Hope all's well. Are you able to listen to conference talks and tapes and etc., as you make your weekly trek to Muscat? I understand there is a church unit about 1.5 hours from you but you have to cross the border, pay the fee, etc., etc. Is that why you go to Muscat?
