Meetings and More

Wednesday marked the return of all the faculty, and there was to be a welcome ceremony for all the new hires.  Below is a picture of the new ES teachers.  We were each given a special necklace of flowers - it's not a lei, but I don't know what it's called - and had red paint and a piece of rice put on our foreheads.

And then began the rest of the meetings.

We did get 90 minutes in our classrooms, though.

90 minutes.

To unpack an entirely new classroom.  To be ready for school.  Next week.

90 minutes.

That evening, some friends and I decided to check out a local shopping place - incidentally, it's home to the first McDonald's in all of India, and it's just over a kilometer from my house.  I don't plan on eating there, but it's nice to know it's there.  We got a pedicure (which was kind of sketchy - we went into the salon and descended into the bowels of the place where a bunch of people were just sitting around.  One friend left, the other and I stayed.  It wasn't the worst pedicure I've had, but I don't plan on returning), then went and picked up delivery menus from the restaurants nearby.  We ended up going to dinner at one of the places, and it was really, really good!

My carpets were supposed to be delivered that night, but I had to cancel.  They were delivered on Thursday, instead!  I paid for three, and am living with the fourth for awhile - no set time, just whenever I decide yea or nay.

And then, shortly after the carpet seller left, my doorbell rang, and thus began a series of conversations I never, ever thought I'd have.

Stay tuned.
