Odds 'n' Ends

So, I am not going to tell you about the conversations I had with my landlady.
Not yet.  (Bwa-ha-ha-ha!)

Instead, here are some pictures of my daily life:

These are two of the carpets I bought.  Pretty, right?

I saw this guy on my walk home from church.  Poor thing, he was missing one horn.  Oh, and about walking to /from church: I get the impression that foreigners don't do a lot of walking in my neighborhood from the amount of stares and number of rickshaw drivers who idled beside me on my way.  A little disconcerting.  But interesting.  And I will take a 10-15 minute walk over a 90 minute drive plus a border crossing to go to church.

This is my stairwell.  I get to walk up and down these stairs everyday.  Lucky, lucky me.

This is what my classroom looks like now, on this, the eve of the school year.  Big difference from the first look at it.  Many, many thanks and Kudos go to my Teaching Assistant, Renu (pronounced RAY-new), who did the bulk of the work of unpacking and organizing.

Here's a perk of my school:  popcorn.  They make and sell delicious popcorn.  For cheap.

  1. Seriously, another cliff hanger? You're killing me! I even blogged yesterday, just for you! It may look like I didn't get much done, but that took me all day. I got stuck at the start of the Spencer family reunion with my gajillion pictures to wade through....

  2. I'm with Heather! (Good job blogging, Heather! I always enjoy reading your family's shenanigans too!) Thanks, Amy, for sharing your amazing new experiences. I'm pleased that you walked to church! Such a very different experience than the past 3 years, yes? Yes!

  3. I love the rugs! I really like the one in the classroom too! And while living up a long flight of stairs is a pain, I can tell you from experience that eventually you almost get used to it.
