Overwhelmed, Party of One, please!

I'm here, in New Delhi, India.  And not just to visit, to live.

I am very fortunate - I have a two bedroom apartment in a 4th floor walk-up.  My kitchen is a pretty good size, with a funny little alcove just across from the fridge.

I have a ginormous terrace/veranda/patio/balcony.  I'm not sure what to call it.  It's huge.  It is, in fact, at least twice as large as my living room.

My new school has done very well with orienting us to the school and the city.  It's all overwhelming.   The buildings on campus are all made out of an unusual brick - they make me think of castles!  There are 4 separate buildings for the elementary school, and each is named after a local tree.  My classroom is in the Banyan building.

This is the banyan tree on campus, right next to the Banyan building.  What is also really lovely is the sheer amount of greenery and green spaces on campus.  After three years in the Middle Eastern desert, my soul is drinking in all of the green!

Another thing that I absolutely love is the printed calendar.  Seriously, the whole school year is mapped out - special events, days off, tournaments, etc, all on the calendar, and everyone has access to it and it can't change because it's printed.  Ah, organization!

I realize I haven't posted a lot of fantastic photos - the thing is, I don't have my camera out a lot when we're out!  I have already seen many cows just walking down the road unattended.  We've been to a couple of different markets which seriously put me into sensory overload status.  It was refreshing to retreat to my apartment (slogging up 51 steps to my penthouse) and be still and at peace.

We're in the middle of monsoon season, and it has rained heavily each afternoon.  Because it's monsoon season, though,  the air isn't that polluted.  Tender mercies, right?
